Kinshasa WATERFALL - simulation

An original simulation game developed by OMEC.

It is a workshop that allows you to practice the most important elements of the classic project approach in a safe, controlled environment.

Thanks to the adventurous, exotic narrative leading the team through African lands, the students not only learn project management, but also experience real emotions! It is them who will make the most important decisions during the simulation – concerning the route, equipment, and even the reaction to the events that have occurred. They too will have to face the consequences of their choices.

What is the final result for the team? There is no clear answer to this question. What is certain is that the participants will be able to taste the victory or face the loss.

The simulation is also available for closed groups, priced individually.

For whom?

  • participants without theoretical basis of project management - the simulation can be an opportunity to meet the concepts of methodology in a friendly environment, as well as a way to integrate the team before starting working together in a project environment
  • participants with knowledge of waterfall approach to projects - the simulation allows you to deepen its understanding and practice the mechanisms of the project approach. It enables the transition from the level of "I know" to the level of "I understand and can"
  • participants who want to recall the methodological basics - the workshop allows you to recall the basic concepts of management, the role and responsibilities in the project and the meaning of the documents in a waterfall approach

Exam and certification

The main purpose of this simulation is to experience the way of operation specific to projects managed according to waterfall approach. The workshop teaches, among other things, planning and supervising the implementation of the project using management through tolerance, product focus and continuity of business viability. At the beginning of the simulation, the most important elements of the methodology are discussed, which will then be used in the simulation. The participants play the roles, which allows them not only to learn about the responsibilities and responsibilities related to these roles, but also to understand what characterizes the way each role operates.

The game uses elements such as:

  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Planning
  • Management, with tolerances
  • Project monitoring and supervision
  • Handling issues/problems
  • The importance of the main documents
  • Report content and effective reporting
  • Adherence to the rules

Simulation contents:

  • Methodical introduction
  • Overview of the principles of simulation, discussion of documents
  • Simulation - planning
  • Simulation - implementation of Stage I
  • Simulation - closing Stage I
  • Simulation - planning for Stage II
  • Simulation - implementation of Stage II
  • Simulation - Project closure
  • Summary of the simulation
