Description
Universal Genève Chronographe ref. 22430Universal Genve's chronograph output in the 1950s represents some of the finest two register work produced by any Swiss manufacture of the era and the Uni Compax is its most enduring expression. The name itself was Universal's commercial designation for its bicompax chronograph line, a family that ran through several decades and case configurations, always anchored by the same clear, functional dial philosophy. Reference 22430 wears the Spillmann case
the "Universal Genève - Polerouter - Automatic" signature sitting cleanly within the dark central field
A true collector's watch
A discreet date aperture at 6 o'clock completes the layout
The characteristic Breguet hands
uninterrupted case sides giving it a solidity that conventional snap-back cases of the same diameter cannot match
the engine-turned bezel
applied gold baton indices
Produced in probably less than 300 examples
with the chronograph pushers flanking the crown in a configuration that echoes the era it draws from
and gives the dial an almost split-seconds appearance at rest
and the Géfica
The silvered dial with applied yellow gold indices is crisp and legible
